Hand & Cloth

Hand & Cloth works with young women from red-light districts in Calcutta, India to provide alternative employment. The young women create ‘kantha dorokha,’ a traditional two-sided quilt made from recycled sari material, which are then sold in the United States. The proceeds help provide school fees and tutors for the young women as well as regular Bible studies.

This logo was created to reflect the handmade nature of the work these women do. The flower detail was scanned from a quilt made by one of the women in India and is a common theme found in almost all of the kantha throws. This identity and subsequent collateral went on to win a $25,000 grant for the organization that helped expand its outreach. For more information, or to buy a kantha throw, visit handandcloth.org
